Hello

We don't always think about the shoes on our feet: until we need them and don't have them. For blue-collar workers across the country, a sturdy pair of work boots isn't just footwear. It's the difference between landing a job and losing out on an opportunity. It's what stands between a paycheck and another week of uncertainty.

At Blue Door Foundation, we see this reality every day. Families who want to work, who are ready to show up and put in the hours, but can't afford the basic equipment required to get started. And in most industries: construction, manufacturing, warehousing, landscaping, food service: you can't clock in without proper footwear.

My Story

I've worked full-time since 15 years of age. Raised by two blue collar parents, in a blue collar family that worked in the trades, small business ownership, restaurants and agriculture. I know what it's like to work hard, and I know what it's like to barely make it while working hard. My first job at 15 years of age was washing dishes in the local restaurant that my single mother waitressed at as her second job. Most of my life I've held two and three jobs at once, from trades to manufacturing and distribution work. So why shoes? Shoes makes all the difference in how you show up for those long shifts and how you keep showing up until the end of shift. A good pair of shoes can be the difference in being a good worker and the best worker. Shoes can change you're entire outlook and attitude, but the right shoes often comes with a large price tag. That's where we come in. I watch my parents, and many like them, sacrifice their own needs for mine. Our desire is to help blue collar families start on a firm foundation via the right shoes.
